Fibrolamellar Cancer Foundation

Teen & Young Adult Cancers

Fibrolamellar is one of many young adult cancers. In addition to wanting to find a remedy for fibrolamellar, Tucker was keen on raising awareness about other cancers that attack young people.  FCF has found multiple websites geared to young adult cancers which are listed here.

Fibrolamellar represents less than 1% of Teen & Young Adult Cancers, but that doesn’t mean it is insignificant.

The hope at FCF is that by funding research to fight fibrolamellar, remedies or treatment options will be applicable to other teen and young adult cancers.

"Some 72,000 Teen & Young Adult Americans aged 15-39 are diagnosed with cancer every year, and more than 10,000 die." Wall Street Journal Nov.9, 2010

"…survival rates for Teen & Young Adult Cancer patients have barely budged since 1975, while those for children and older people have made dramatic gains."  Wall Street Journal, Nov.9, 2010

FCF seeks to level the playing field between pediatric (age 1-15) and adult (avg. age 67) cancer by funding research in the middle of those two more popularly funded groups.

Teens and young adults represent nearly 10% of all cancer patients.
